These are just a few of the many things to see and do in this East European city that is also home to the Fisherman's Bastion, the Time Wheel (a one year hour glass), castles, famous churches and many other historic monuments. In recent years Budapest's picturesque qualities have attracted movie makers and tourists from all over the world. Enjoy your visit!

Many Hungarians understand and speak English. A surprising number of restaurants in and out of Budapest offer multilingual menus. Maneuvering around is really not that difficult for tourists who don't speak the language.

At the time this article was written Hungary had recently joined the European Union and no visa was required for United States citizens. The euro was becoming the preferred currency but Hungarian Forints were still widely used although they were scheduled to be discontinued between 2010 and 2012.
