The key to making the most of a trip to Disney World is preparation. There are lots of wonderful things to enjoy once you arrive but without thinking ahead you may find yourself spending a lot of time just waiting around in line. These planning tips will help you get the most of out of your vacation.

First step back and look at the total amount of time you have to spend there. If you are flying there consider that it will probably take at least 2 hours from the time your plane lands until you actually reach the entrance of a Disney theme park. If you will be arriving in the morning or early afternoon you will probably have time to visit a theme park that day. Since you don't have a full day anyway you may want to choose that time for your visit to one of the smaller parks such as Disney-MGM.

Fast Passes are a great time saver and they are available for many of the newer, most popular rides. You can think of a Fast Pass as a reservation to enter a ride at a future time. They are free and are obtained from automated kiosks located near the ride entrance. Imagine for example your group wants to go on a popular ride like Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom. Locate the Fast Pass dispensers in the vicinity of the ride and insert your park pass in the slot. A paper receipt showing a time span of about an hour is printed out for you. This is your ticket to the Fast Pass entrance for the ride and it is good anytime between the earliest and latest times printed on the pass. There is usually an hour or so between the moment you get the Fast Pass and the earliest entrance time for the ride so now you can use that one hour delay to do something more fun than just waiting around in line. Have a meal, go shopping or go on some of the other rides. You can have one active Fast Pass at a time.
