The pattern that worked best for us was to obtain a Fast Pass for a popular ride, go do something fun until our Fast Pass entrance time, use the Fast Pass, get a Fast Pass for the next ride and so on.

In general the lines for the more popular rides get longer later in the day so if you want to make the most of the time you have in the theme parks it is best to arrive when the park first opens, usually around 10:00AM. On certain days at designated parks Disney resort guests may enter the parks two hours early. On other days certain parks may have two extra hours at night. You can find out what the schedule is even before you arrive and decide which parks to visit on which days accordingly.

Animal Kingdom is an especially good early morning choice as the animals are said to be less active later in the day. It is also one of those parks where you can make the rounds of its most popular attractions in half a day. If you know ahead of time which day you are going to be there call 407-WDW-DINE to make lunch reservations for the Rain Forest Cafe and try a sequence like this to make the most of your time there:

  • Be there on a day when the park opens early for resort guests (or at least by the usual 10:00AM opening time.)
  • Go directly to Expedition Everest and obtain a Fast Pass.
  • Go on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride and see the animals.
  • Use the Everest Expedition Fast Pass.
  • Obtain a Fast Pass for the Kali River Rapids ride.
  • Go on the DINOSAUR thrill ride.
  • Visit Dino-Land.
  • Use the Kali River Rapids Fast Pass.
  • Break for lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe.
  • Free time for spontaneous fun, taking in some of the other attractions, shopping, just strolling around or hop to another park.
